Customers say
Customers find the training mat effective at keeping pets off couches and appreciate its easy setup and design. The functionality and pet protection receive positive feedback, with one customer noting it works well with house cats. The battery life, noise level, and shock level receive mixed reviews – while some say it lasts a long time and has a soft beeping sound, others report it keeps shutting off periodically and the shock level isn’t strong enough. Value for money is also mixed, with some finding it a worthy purchase while others consider it a waste of time and money.

training mat achieved desired results
I have two senior cats, one of which developed a bad habit of very randomly leaving a “lago amarillo” surprise on one of our couches in the living room. I tried to break the the little furball’s habit by adding pet-safe couch covers and then piling boxes and other obstacles to keep her off these ‘couches of her desire’.After a few months, the habit was unchanged so I ordered three of the PetSafe ScatMat Indoor Training Mats (60 in X 12 in) for each couch in my living room. It only took one ‘shock’ for the little fur monkey to make the association and the law was understood from that point on. Cat brains are pretty smart in that way.So now the cats stay off the couches except when allowed when we are in the room watching TV. The balance of good and evil has been restored, and now the sock monkeys are well behaved… we have had no further incidents. The battery life seems to be fine. The mats have been on pretty much 24/7 for about a month now and are not showing signs of battery weakness. It has several modes of operation and shock levels. I have only needed one mode. The mats are flexible, seem durable, well designed. The mat electronics seem to calibrate sensitivity when first powered up.When I received the I first tried it out on myself to see how quickly it detects the presence on the mat and the shock discomfort. I think lowest setting is probably adequate for most cases.Sorry, but I have no video of the pet reaction, it was pretty uneventful and was not intended as a way to prank the pet (laughing at them undermines the lesson which might result in an act of revenge .. they are smart in that way). With the first encounter with the mat there was just a slightly surprised jump and WTF moment and that was it. I could see a mental note was made “Never return to this couch again, there is bad magic there.”Anyway, I recommend this product for training your pet to learn to stay off of a surface that is off limits.best of luck to you,

Works like a charm, even on my husband!
This mat is great. Itâs kept my cats off the table and my dog off the couch. Iâve even used it to keep my husband on his toes! You can set it to beep when stepped on for a warning, or you can set it to not give a warning. Itâs easy to use and set up. It seems durable to my cat and dogâs claws. Itâs easy to wipe down – just remember to shut it off first! I also like the counting function so I know how many times my animals have stepped on it. 10/10 recommend.

Works well
Weâve been using scat mats for a while now to corral our dogs. This one works as expected and keeps our potty training puppy off the couch when she isnât supervised. Minus one Star because I find it hard to turn on and off.

Keep cat off couch and christmas tree
Does what it says. This finally stopped my cat from spraying on the couch.

Highly recommend.
For anyone who thinks this is barbaric, just know it has different levels. I have this on a low setting which feels like a humming feeling. My cats immediately change direction. If you have stubborn felineâs, then there is additional levels that can feel a little like electricity but it doesnât hurt them. The mats are durable and easy to use.

Horrible waste of money for cats
This product was advertised as something to help keep dogs and cats off furniture and counters. My cats are trained to not get up on counters while we are awake, but they will do it when we’re asleep. I was hoping this mat would fix that. Boy, I made a big mistake. Not sure why, but for some reason I thought the static mode was an audible sound. Call me an idiot, I sure feel like one. It’s a static SHOCK. After trying the tone only mode and realizing it was too quiet, and pretty much worthless, I turned on static mode to medium and touched the mat. I thought it was going to make a loud static or hissing type noise. No, it shocked the ever loving **** out of me. My arrm has been tingling for the past 5 minutes and my finger at the touch point is still sore. After half an hour I got the nerve up to try it on the low setting, and while that wasn’t awful and I could hold my fingers on it, it still shocked pretty good. Especially if you touched multiple points at the same time. I’m a human; imagine a small animal touching this.Sorry, but for a cat, that’s way too extreme and would be akin to animal abuse. I’m returning this worthless product. It should not be advertised for cats. At least dogs are larger animals and the low setting might be ok, plus you can train dogs to react a certain way to tones, but for a cat that’s typically not going to work.

Buy knowing the company backâs up their products
I am absolutely a fan of PetSafe. I contacted them because although I love my scat mat, it stopped working about 10 months later. The next day a new one arrived, no cost to me!I will continue to purchase products, knowing they will back them up.

Simple, effective, not cruel. I used this in my kitchen in front of my sink and counter. I have a very tall, very big (makes danes look short) ignorant dog that figured out he was tall enough to pillage and plunder my upper cabinets full of food. Also steals my kitchen sink plugs for some insane reason. So, my kitchen is a U Shape. I laid the mat on the floor 2 feet from my sink. Basically creating a no go zone. Because the mat has a shock counter on it, i know day 1 he hit that thing 4x. Day 2 he hit it 2x. Day 3 nothing. Day 4 1x. Nothing since. He’s figured out thats a no zone. The mat has 4 settings. Chime only, low, med, high zap. I only have it on chime now and he’s still not having anything to do with the mat or my kitchen cupboards/sink plugs. The highest setting more startles you in bare feet than it does actually shock. Like a static zap. Not anywhere near as powerful as a shock collar but the pads on dog feet are sensitive enough that it’s very effective. I would definitely say safe enough for cats as we have one of those too and he’s not going in the no zone either.100% recommend for an easy, safe, effective way to train your pet to stay out of an area, off a couch, or like my other dog, getting close enough to the tv to knock it off the stand.

This works. My dog would get up on the couch overnight, no matter how close her bed was or how many times she was told off.We bought a new lighter coloured couch and we had to do something more to stop her.I bought 2 mats to cover the whole couch but didnât really need a 2nd one because she made ONE attempt and tried just once more the next night, and then never again.I love my girl and donât want to hurt her, so we made sure we read the instructions properly and didnât have it turned up high.Iâd recommend these for quick results. She seems to have forgotten that the couch was ever an option.

Need to remember theyâre on the floor as itâs not a pleasant feeling when stood on but sure keeps pets away from areas theyâre not allowed

This is the best invention ever for frustrated cat owners who are tired of persistent counter-surfing felines. Has various settings so can be set to alarm only, alarm + static shock of varying degrees, or various degrees of static shock without sound. My persistent feline tested it multiple times before giving up her counter-surfing career, but my submissive kitten only tested it twice and now just looks but won’t touch it.The coils are nicely spaced so work better than the competitors for smaller paws. This truly is a lifesaver for frustrated cat owners who are tired of kitty litter being tracked all over their kitchen counters.
