Not My Favorite
I wasn’t impressed with this heat protectant. I have been started getting more discerning about the products I use in my hair as I’m trying to prevent damage and grow my hair long. So it is important to me that I enjoy and trust the products I use, and I’m not sure this is it. The stream of the spray is too concentrated for me- a perfect experience would be a wide mist that covers a broad surface area evenly. I feel the same way about cooking spray in pans- no one wants some areas to be covered more than others. But I digress. My other grievance is the lack of scent. Scent is so personal but I take it seriously in the products I put in my hair and body. One of the heat protectants I have from a well known brand I don’t even care if it protects because the scent is so good. I’m also unclear whether this is meant for wet (before blow dryer) or dry (before iron) as the instructions just say ‘spray onto hair’. I will revert back to my others over this one.

better heat protectants out there at this price point.
Overall, this heat protectant spray was a miss for me. Itâs priced at $15.99, which isnât outrageous, but based on the packaging and ingredient list, it doesnât feel like a premium product. The presentation is pretty basic and the packaging feels lower end.The formula is oil-based, which can be trickyâit’s very easy to overdo it and end up with greasy-looking hair. I have curly hair that tends to be dry and frizzey, and even for me it felt a little too much. I think it’d be even worse if you have fine or straight hair. The smell is also a bit off-putting. Thereâs a strange scent when you first spray itâthankfully it fades quickly, but itâs not pleasant on initial application. In the end, I wouldnât purchase this again. Between the greasy finish, the odd scent, and the overall quality, it just didnât work for me. There are better heat protectants out there at this price point.

Looks Like Hair Spray, Smells Like Trouble
This spray includes jojoba oil, which sounded promising until I saw propane and butane on the ingredients list. That explains why it smells like lighter fluid. It does go on lightly and doesnât feel sticky, but the effect is disappointing. It seemed to dry my hair out instantly rather than protect or hydrate it.The worst part? The warning label. It tells you to stay away from flames, sparks, and even live electrical appliances, which kind of defeats the purpose of using it before heat styling tools like hair dryers or curling irons.Even at a lower price, Iâd be hesitant, but at $15, definitely not worth the risk to your hair (or your home). Smells bad, dries hair, and reads like a fire hazard. No thanks.

Heat Protection Spray
I like this heat protection spray because it works. It didn’t make my hair sizzle or smell fried. It left it shiny, smooth, and handles humidity well (zero frizz). I didn’t notice a scent from the product. It does contain mineral oil. I like that it sprays evenly and the nozzle doesn’t clog up. It’s an average value for the money.

Strange design with the butane propellant and tight spray stream
I’m a bit on the fence on this heat spray as it has a strong smell of butane when you initially spray it, but it doesn’t smell on your hair. There is actually no discernible scent that I can smell IN my hair, only the smell of butane while discharging/spraying. Even after blow drying, blow brushing, or curling, I cannot smell anything, so it’s definitely only at discharge. It’s also strangely a bit tighter spray stream versus the wider spray that you’re typically used to. It’s not bothersome as I just hold it out further – it’s just different.I don’t get dry or frizzy hair, so would assume it’s doing the job of protecting my hair and keeping the moisture locked in for the most part. My hair remains shiny with no signs of dryness from applying heat to it, so I’m happy with the performance of it. It’s just the initial smell that’s hard to overlook. With a price of just under $16, I think for me, that there are other products that I use that work as effectively but smell nicer.

Not for me
I don’t like this heat protectant spray. My biggest complaint with it is that it sprays out in a very narrow stream, making you have to use more than necessary. I have waist length thin normal hair. This did leave my hair feeling smooth and did add shine. It does smell like paint at first which is off-putting. It is not a good value for the amount you get and how much I need to use on my hair. I prefer heat protectant sprays that aren’t aerosols. This is lightweight and not sticky which are about all it has going for it.

Sprays on too intensely, causing clumpy sections
I have long, wavy, color treated hair and I use a flat iron a couple times a week when I want the smooth, straight look, so I always need to have heat protectant on hand.I usually use nexxus thermal defense, but thought I’d try this instead. It’s about the same price, but unfortunately it does not perform nearly as well. It’s an aerosol spray, and the spray pattern is way too narrow and focused, making almost a stream instead of a mist. I ended up with clumpy, oily areas while other sections were dry.The ingredients seem ok. You might be better off spraying it on your hands and rubbing it in, but for this price I’ll stick with my normal brand.
