For additional disinfecting, wipe probe clean with rubbing alcohol (do not immerse in water). One L1154 Alkaline Cell Battery is included and installed so you can start using it right away. Great price, fast delivery. Not fancy just a good old fashioned thermometer. Very easy to use and read. I have an older gas oven and the temperature dial isn’t real accurate, this allows me to be sure of my temps. Very durable.

Large Dial
This has a large dial that is easy to read, even when fogging up from the heat of the food. It has a scale on the bottom that shows what temp is needed for different meats. I like the flat bottom, which allows you to put it in the side of the food and rest it on the edge of the dish. The round ones have a tendency to turn; this one stays put. Says you can adjust the reading. Since I do not have an NSIT certified thermometer to check it against, I donât think thatâs very useful. Had to buy a new one after my old one got full of water. That one was several years old. My old one looked like the picture, but this new one has a row of dots instead of the black and red bars. Chart doesn’t include fish.Also bought the analog quick read. Standard thermometer that works well. The dial has one flattened side which keeps it from rolling. It came with a gadget that you can slip it into and then have a handle so you donât have your hand over a hot pot. This worked OK. The label says the gadget is also a sheath, but the thermometer will not fit in the holes on either end. Description says it is 2 inches across, but it is only 1 inch across.

Good thermometer, but markings vary
The temperatures appear correct and I like being able to glance at the images for how done the meat is, but I’d prefer the separate dark and red sections as shown in the listing and not the combined one I received. I intended my purchase for a new cook, so simplicity would be valuable. That the received thermometer doesn’t distinguish between reheating ham v. cooking fresh is a big deal to me.

I HAVE HAD GOOD COOK THERMOMETERS FOR YEARS AND ARE STILL USING THEM! Â THIS THING DIDN’T WORK FROM DAY ONE. Â I TRASHED IT. Â THIS COULD BE A ONE OFF – BUT I WOULD LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR A GOOD, RELIABLE THERMOMETER. Â
