Convenient but not very powerful
I thought it would be nice to have an electric toothbrush that doesn’t need to be plugged into the wall… One that would travel easier with less fuss. When this Rechargeable Popsicle Toothbrush by Gem was offered it looked promising.I have been using it for several days now, along with my older name brand one. The Gem gets used in the morning and I use my brand name one at night. All things being equal (water temperature, toothpaste, duration of brushing), I must say that this toothbrush does not get my teeth feeling as clean as my old one. When I hold them up side by side and turn them on the Gem doesn’t vibrate as much, it just isn’t that powerful.It’s more than that though… This toothbrush is straight up and down and even though it has little nubs on the handle to help grip it, it still gets slippery. Also, the handle is not very ergonomic and it feels a bit awkward to hold.The toothbrush heads that come with it attach easily to the device but they are too small for my liking, and too soft, which I guess is why my teeth don’t feel as clean as they could. I do appreciate that each brush head comes with a cover to keep it clean. I also love the 2 minute timer, it takes the guesswork out of “how long is enough?”.As far as replacement brush heads, they do sell them but they are $9.99 for four. That is half the price of the toothbrush itself… And I expect that they are all the same softness. It would be wonderful if they offered brush heads in soft, medium and firm.This Gem toothbrush would be a nice transition for somebody switching from a manual, but for me it just doesn’t feel like it does a thorough enough job for me to have it replace my old one. It is selling for $19.99, which is a fair enough price, until you add in $9.99 for replacement brush heads.

Nice tooth brush
It works very well. Having a small brush is a plus compared to the larger brush of my last brush. The smaller brush allows me to get to the back couple of teeth that was tough to reach will the bigger one. It’s quiet and seems to be well built. I chose this brush because I didn’t want to keep recharging batteries. With this brush, I expect the battery to last for a long time, then just replace with another single AA battery.
