Why does my dog sit on the mat without getting an electric shock?

The training mat has a safety feature that stops it from shocking after it has given 5 continuous shocks. If your pet can tolerate the shocks, they may even lay on the mat. In this case, move your pet away and switch the mat to a stronger setting.

Do I need to buy a 9V battery for it? How long will the battery last?

1. The product is rechargeable, you don’t need to buy batteries for it.

2. If the mat is at the lowest setting and your pet doesn’t go near the mat after being shocked, the battery can last up to 30 days.

My cat has small paws. Is it normal for it to walk over the shock mat without triggering an electric shock?

That’s normal. Please place the shock mat in areas where your cat frequently passes by. The cat will not be so fortunate every time, and it will eventually learn that the mat will shock it. You can then relocate the mat to your preferred location.
