Smells Great and Works Well
Best smelling beard balm Iâve used. My beard is almost all gray, and itâs very dry, course, and wiry. Iâve tried tons of different oils and butters, and this one works the best to soften it and make it more manageable. After applying it, I use a boarâs hair brush. The Corktown scent is musky/ woodsy. It smells great and compliments colognes of similar scents. I tried the Dark scent from this company, and it smells like lemon Pledge. Iâd avoid that one.

Great, made in the USA and not too expensive
Detroit Grooming Companyâs beard butter leaves my beard incredibly soft without feeling greasy. It lasts all day, moisturizes just enough to keep my beard healthy, and doesnât clash with my cologne. Itâs easily the best addition to my daily routine.I bought Belle Isle and Corktown and I would buy them again as they smell good but not too overpowering. If I were to only choose one, Corktown!

Leaking packaging
The Belle Isle beard butter arrived today. The product had leaked and was all over the exterior. The seal inside the cover seemed intact so I’m not sure how this happened. The weather here was in the high 40s so it wasn’t extremely hot. After opening the product, whatever scent was present was difficult to detect. That is to say, it didn’t smell anything like expected. I had read other reviews that said the scent lasted all day. Hard to imagine when it doesn’t even smell in the container. I’ll update once I try it for a bit. This product is expensive enough per ounce, so the mere fact that a fair amount of the product had leaked out is disappointing. Once again, I’ll have to update this review in terms of the actual product once I have the chance to use it.Addendum: I wrote directly to the manufacturer via email and they replied that same evening. They apologized for the experience and offered to replace it without any hesitation. It took 11 days to arrive and was intact thus time. The scent is still very subtle, which is somewhat disappointing. What I can smell is pleasant. The product itself, in terms of how it makes my medium length beard feel, is very good. It melt to a very smooth consistency and is very easy to apply. It makes my beard feel very soft for the couple if weeks I’ve been using it for now. I think the company did a great job with their customer service, and the weak scent not withstanding, this product delivers on its promise to be a good moisturizer for mens beards. Updating to 4 stars (minus 1 for the scent).

The best beard butter ever, in my opinion.
I have been using Detroit Grooming beard butter since they were a startup company 10 or 11 years ago, and they even sold straight razors. I have veered off the path to try other products and always run right back. It is absolutely perfect in weight, texture, oil, and how it sits on your beard without leaving any greasiness or residue. A little goes a long way. My favorites are Corktown and Traverse City. You get two really unique scents so when you need a change, it’s perfect.

Not quite enough hold
The product is fine, good scent, and packaging. I, however need a fairly strong wax product. This is more in line with a balm, doesn’t have the hold I need. However if a balm type is what you’re looking for, absolutely would recommend.

My new favorite DGC scent
I’ve been a big fan of the Leland scent for years, but I tried the Royal Oak recently and I think I like it even better. All the DGC oils and butters are great for your beard and skin, but Royal Oak smells the best imo. Not too strong, just a subtle fragrance of citrus and spice. Really good stuff.

I very much enjoy this “Beard Butter”At first, I had a hard time distinguishing the types of beard products.But I narrowed it down to 3: Balm, Butter, and Oil.Balm is stickier and leaves a heavier texture on your beard but styles and shapes ok..Oil smells good, and somewhat moisturizes (moreso for your skin than your hair), but does nothing to help style for me.BUTTER however… Is perfect. Its smooth and light, soft, and not crunchy. When used in the appropriate way you can get some hold to a style, some softness and a good smell all at the same time.I do recommend you style the beard first, dry and straighten, or however you do it up first. Then add the butter and feel the difference!It definitely makes my beard feel healthier. It keeps it from getting dry and has minimal transfer issues after 10-15 minutes (so like it wont rub off from touching other things by accident after that usually).Lovely product, I have purchased before and will continue to until I can’t find it!

Very nice and workable product, melts well in the plan for application.There are very nice smells of tobacco and vanilla but yhw cedar is not spicwy like cedar should be.There is a overwhelming smell of something like honey suckle or some perfume like smell that is very off putting.Sadly I have tried it on my beard once and the smell was so string I cannot use it again.Without the perfume overtone it would smell awesome, sadly it takes over and ruins the quality of the product.I bought based on all the positive reviews, but the smell isn’t man-ly at all and my most important critic – the wife said nope nope nope.Sorry guys this one struck out for me.
