Compact, easy to use, seems to work well and is great for people with vision problems.
This BP monitor is packaged well and comes with an off-brand set of batteries, a USB cable (for data transfer) and a storage pouch.The cuff looked small but fit a big guy like me just fine. The said cuff was also easy to self affix to my left arm – easier than my older and more expensive monitor.Once I hit the Start button, the screen came on. I was impressed with the clarity and sharpness of the screen. The text is also large and clear, and is easier to read if you’re hard of seeing. In general, the screen is way better than the basic 80s Casio watch style monochromatic LCD on my old monitor.Five seconds or so after the screen came on, the monitor began talking to me, saying that it’s now going to measure my BP and giving basic instructions. I didn’t expect that and was a bit startled. The voice is female and the dictation quality is pretty good as far as these things go. It’s amazing how far these things have come lately.Anyway, the measurement process was quiet and painless, and after it was done, the voice read all the measurements to me. I’ve since taken a number of measurements and compared them to the ones produced by my tried and tested old monitor, which is getting passed on to a family member. They did match withing the normal margin or error. So, this monitor does seem to produce accurate results.I think that this is a really cool little BP monitor for the price. I can recommend it to anyone, but particularly, to people who are hard of seeing, as they will really appreciate the big, clear text and the voice dictation.

Easy to use but inflates to a painful point
I want to start this review by mentioning I previously worked in clinical cardiology and have taken literally thousands of blood pressure readings and have purchased and used many types of cardiovascular monitors in that time.Overall, I found this blood pressure cuff easy to set up and use right away. You wrap the cuff around your upper arm, ensure the cord is on the inside of the arm according to the images in the manual, plug the loose end into the monitor, and press the start button in the center of the monitor’s bottom frame. Everything else happens automatically. The resulting reading appears in large numbers on the monitor, and there is also a voice reading, making this ideal for the visually impaired.While not mentioned in the user’s manual, it seems you can either power it by USB cable (included) or 4 AAA batteries (also included – a nice extra). The manual itself isn’t the greatest. The print is VERY small for people who are likely to be using it. It’s not well organized, and there are some confusing passages (issues with English translation?). I would suggest creating a “quick start” flyer and separating the safety information into a separate manual or putting it all together at the end.There are a lot of features included with the monitor unit, including capacity for memory and multiple users. It would be nice for moderately tech savvy senior couples who want to share it and keep a digital record of their BP readings.I do think it works well and gives an accurate blood pressure and pulse reading, based on my history of both. The readings I got were similar to previous readings I’ve had taken at the doctor’s office.My biggest complaint is with the initial inflation of the cuff. It constricts the arm to an extremely painful level, far past what’s needed to get an accurate reading, in my opinion. I would never manually inflate a cuff that tightly on a patient. Pain can raise blood pressure, giving what is essentially a false high reading.That said, if you can tolerate the tightness of the cuff for about 15 seconds, it’s a very good home monitor. Everything fits nicely inside the enclosed drawstring bag for storage and travel. For the price, it’s an excellent value to keep track of blood pressure regularly at home.
