It works for me
Please read up on henna before you purchase. This is a wonderful product. It’s natural and it dyes your hair without making your hair feel like straw, even though it may smell like it for a couple of days LOL. I used to dye my hair light golden brown and after using this product my hair is darker, but it’s a nice rich darkish brown and suits me quite well. There’s all sorts of people out there that will suggest adding leave in conditioner, coffee, tea, and/or lemon juice etc. and I’ve found it does seem to be lighter when I’ve tried these, but personally I don’t feel the mixture gets the greys as well. I’m not a fan of the smell and you’re not supposed to wash your hair for a couple days after you rinse out the dye, so if you get rained on, you’ll probably smell it. The mixture is like a green mud you smoosh into your hair. Make sure to get down to the scalp for those pesky roots. I don’t find it to be terribly messy, just time consuming. None of these draw backs are deal breakers for me. I’ve been using this product for over two months and the new hair growth feels so healthy, not like the conventional hair dyed ends. I would recommend this product to anyone. I’m just glad there’s something out there that’s natural and works. This next part will just be some tips that I find work for me and might help others. Don’t feel obligated to read on if you’re not interested. I won’t be giving out the secret to life or anything… Always follow the instructions the first time!!! I think this is kind of important because this may be the best way for you. There was a little line in the instructions I missed the first time about not using any metal, even to boil your water. I used my tea kettle the first time, oops. Nothing bad happened, I just wasn’t as happy with the results the first time. Stupid metal and it’s stupid weird goofing up henna properties. ( I am not a scientist, please don’t quote me as an authority LOL) Second tip- if you choose to use leave in conditioner in the mix, this may help you rinse it from your hair better, and I’ve found I can apply the mixture without gloves and it doesn’t stain around my fingernails. (which it totally will without the conditioner. Found that out the hard way, but it fades in a few days) Third tip – sometimes trying to disguise the smell makes it worse. I’ve tried using a cinnamon tea and peppermint oil and it seemed to just have a bouquet of weird aromas emanating from the mixture. Cinnamon brings out some red highlights, Chamomile brings out gold, all these are subtle, don’t expect salon highlights results. Tip four – I split the powder contents in half. I twist the bag up and use a twisty-tie to keep out the air. Tip five – because this is natural and doesn’t harm your hair, I use it about every other week. Occasionally more, if I missed a grey spot. The roots are really what I’m dying after the initial first dye. I mean I goop up the ends with what’s left, but focus on the roots. Tip six – since the box comes with one plastic cap and one pair of gloves, splitting the contents leaves you with a bit of a dilemma. I use a regular old grocery bag on my head and I’ve applied it without gloves or purchase extras. Tip seven – My process is boil water, mix henna, and then I wash my hair. This gives it time to cool down before applying, and they suggest you apply to clean hair and I do this without clothes. I like the mixture to be pretty thick and muddy. Last time I didn’t add enough water so it was more of a struggle getting it everywhere, but too much water would make it runny and that’s not great either. I apply a thick layer at my roots. If I get any on my forehead I just wipe it with a piece of damp toilet paper. When it’s all applied I stick the plastic on my head and try to stick it to the henna so there’s not much air in there. I also tie the cap in a knot. Now I set a timer on my phone for around fifty minutes and work on things I need to do around the house (still without clothes LOL) … I like to be in the shower before I take off the cap, but haven’t really had any problem with it flaking off. Sometimes I go longer than the hour… I don’t measure or follow the instructions any more really… I just do what works best for me. I really hope this helped and because you’re such a good sport… Okay. The answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything is… 42.

Great way to ge the grey out and not harm your hair!
Great product. I have used hair color for years and it was damaging my hair so I decided to stop coloring my hair with the harsh chemicals found in the hair color. My beautician said there is no way her gentle hair color could make my hair break the way it did. About 6 months after I stopped coloring my hair I could see an improvement. My hair wasn’t breaking and I wasn’t losing it as much. But I couldn’t go without doing anything to my hair. I am 46 years old, with light brown medium length hair with a hint of red to it. After doing a lot of research, I decided Henna was the best way to get the grey out of my hair. I have been using Henna for about a year and I LOVE it. I really like the Light Mountain brand. It is very easy to use. I followed other people’s reviews. I was scared at first but there is nothing to be scared of. You really can’t mess it up. I keep an index card with notes on it every time I treat my hair. My hair is a little darker immediately after I treat it, then after a few washes the color fades. Not dark enough for people to notice, but it gives it a rich, auburn color. The grey slowly creeps back and I have to treat it again after about 5 weeks. My application process: I leave it cure for about an hour. I use about 14oz of distilled water and sometimes I mix in plain greek yogurt. Remember to only use distilled water and NO METAL utensils or bowls. I leave it on my hair for about an hour. I wrap my head in the plastic it comes with, and put on a shower cap over the plastic. Then I alternate a hot towel (heated in the dry) every 10 minutes on my head. Yes, it smells “earthy”, but I’d rather smell the earthy smell than the chemical smell. After I rinse out the henna, I then put on a deep conditioner for another 20 minutes, my hair tends to be on the dry side. (It is hard to rinse out so be patient) It’s very soft and has a fuller feel to it when I finish. I love the way my hair looks after I treat it! And I think the conditioner helps make my hair even softer. I highly recommend this product.Another tip: Use an old towel. I’ve never stained anything before but you will drop some on the floor. My dog loves it! (I try to not let him eat it but sometimes he gets to it first). Just know that this is messy to put on, but after using it a few times, this becomes no big deal. I had never colored my hair myself before, I’ve always had someone do it. So if I can put this stuff on my hair, anyone can!
